I am a third generation Shorthorn breeder! My Grandpa Anwender started his purebred herd in the 1940’s and my Dad and Mom have kept the herd going.
I got my start with HC Daffodil 21T that Dad helped me pick out. Once Daffy and I got to know each other we went out on the road…. In May of 2008, we went to the Southeast Club Calf Cruze and took along Bluey, an awesome Shorthorn cross heifer. I got a first and second in class and first in junior showmanship - very exciting!!!.
Then it was off to Arcola, Sask. in June to a heifer jackpot, then onto Weyburn, Sask. to another heifer jackpot…They were fun and a good learning experience. July 24-26 was the National Junior Shorthorn Show in Russell, Manitoba. We headed out there with Daffodil and Bluey.. We had a great time…. meeting new people and showing my heifers. I did very well in Manitoba also!!! The fall was a busy time to get ready for Agribition. I helped mom and dad with the cattle at Agribition when I didn’t have to be in school!!! I got to be there for the end of the week for show day. I entered Daffy in the Junior Beef Extreme, it was exciting just to be part of Agribition for me!!!!! I love my Shorthorns and can’t wait to get out on the road again in 2009!!!!! |
